Education System in Myanmar :
Self-Evaluation and Future Plans

8. Conclusion

In conclusion, when reviewing the existing education system – both in basic education sub-sector and higher education sub-sector, there are strengths as well as weaknesses. Learning a lesson from them, necessary changes to the education system will have to be made by representative, responsible and responsive stakeholders. Moreover, being aware that the Ministry of Education alone cannot secure quality education and improve national economy, only with the combined effort of academicians, researchers and associated stakeholders working in harmony, a holistic development in the education sector and the growth in our national economy will be achieved. With harmony among stakeholders and human resource development practices that are dynamic, it is expected that a more successful education system that can enhance the knowledge, skills and expertise of our citizens will be established. This will result in the improvement in the national economy and the living standards of our citizens, poverty alleviation, and the social and political stability in the region and beyond.
